Acceptable use

The short version

Call and text people who want to hear from you, from a number that is really yours, about something legal. Almost everything below follows from that.

This is not only our preference. Carriers police it, and a company that breaks it loses its numbers — sometimes within hours, and not always with a warning we can pass on.

Consent

You must have permission to contact the people you contact, and be able to show where it came from. Honour opt-outs immediately: replying STOP to a text takes that number off your list automatically, and a request to stop calling must be respected the same way.

You are responsible for checking the do-not-call rules that apply to you, and for calling only within the hours the law allows where the person you are calling is.

Caller ID

Show a number that reaches you. Presenting a number you do not control in order to mislead somebody is illegal in the United States and will end your account.

What the service may not be used for

• Fraud, impersonation, or pretending to be a bank, a government or a courier.
• Recorded calls to people who have not agreed to receive them.
• Harassment, threats, or repeated calls intended to distress somebody.
• Traffic pumping, dialling sequential or random numbers, or generating calls to inflate somebody’s revenue.
• Anything a carrier classifies as high-risk messaging: loans, gambling, cannabis.
• Reselling access to somebody outside your own business without telling us.

Recording

Recording is switched off until you switch it on. Some states require every party to a call to consent before it is recorded, and that obligation is yours, not ours — tell people they are being recorded.

What happens if this is broken

We may suspend the account, stop the traffic, or release the numbers, depending on how serious it is and on what the carrier requires of us. Where we can talk to you first we will; where a carrier gives us no choice, we cannot.
